The CPV Jugfork Solar Project is a proposed 200-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) solar farm with a 20 MW/4 hour battery energy storage system (BESS) located in both Lee and Union County, Mississippi. The project will create a new source of clean, renewable energy for the region while improving the grid’s energy reliability. Once operational, CPV Jugfork Solar will produce approximately 514,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) annually; enough to power 48,000 average U.S. households.

The CPV Jugfork Solar Project is a proposed 200-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) solar farm with a 20 MW / 4 hour battery energy storage system in Lee and Union Counties. The project will create a new source of clean, renewable energy for the region while improving the grid’s energy reliability. Once operational, CPV Jugfork Solar will produce approximately 470,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) annually; enough to power 22,400 Mississippi households.
CPV Jugfork will provide significant economic benefits to Union and Lee Counties and surrounding areas. These benefits include job creation, increased local tax revenue, and support for sustainable energy initiatives.
CPV Jugfork is rigorously reviewed at federal and state levels. This project will undergo wetland, geotechnical, and stormwater assessments, along with historical reviews. CPV’s partnership with TVA requires the project to follow the NEPA review process ensuring thorough environmental impact evaluations and compliance with federal regulations.
We expect to develop a plan to decommission the project at the end of its operation. We plan for the solar panels to be sent for deconstruction and potential reuse, promoting responsible resource management.
Solar panels are designed to be safe for the environment. The materials used in solar panels are non-volatile and encased in tempered glass, which prevents chemical releases. Additionally, solar panels do not contain any liquid which could leak in the event of damage.
